I enjoy many different authors, but some of my favorites are Anne McCaffrey lives in Ireland and has many series. Some of the more famous are the Dragonriders of Pern, the Talent series, the Shellpeople series, the generation warriors series, and the crystal singer books. She also has some short stories and other books. The newsgroup alt.fan.pern has lots of lively discussion about Anne's work. Some of my favorites include Dragonflight, Dragonsinger, Dragonsdawn, The Ship Who Searched (with Mercedes Lackey), and The Girl Who Heard Dragons.

Robert Heinlein was probably one of the first Science Fiction authors I read. I have enjoyed many of his works for many years. Some of my favorites have been The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress, Job, A Comedy of Justice, Have Spacesuit, Will Travel, and Citizen of the Galaxy.

Mercedes Lackey lives in Oklahoma, and is a relatively new writer. I have enjoyed all of her books and stories that I have read, and she has more on the drawing board. There is a nice collection of information about her and her books at Firebird Art & Music website. There are also a number of fan websites. Queen's Own is one of the officially sanctioned ones.

Piers Anthony lives in Florida, he has many series, of which the Xanth and Adept series are well known. Some of his work that is less well known that I enjoyed is the Ox, Orn, and Omnivore trilogy and one of his few Science Fiction books, Macroscope.

Christopher Stasheff is a fantasy author that lives here in Champaign. He wrote the "warlock in spite of himself" series. More recently he has started a new series about a space traveling theatre company. The first book is Starship Troupers, the second is We Open On Venus and the third, which came out last fall, is A Slight Detour.
